Whether you’re a seasoned gardening, long-term foodie, or a complete novice - there’s never been a better time to grow-your-own. It’s been a difficult start to the year for everyone, so we want to focus on positive, individual change; the kind of change that can make a real impact. We’re all used to the go-to reasons for growing-your-own, whether it’s to eat straight from plot-to-plate, find some head-space, or just enjoy your own green space outdoors - but right now, it’s never made more financial sense, too… In our first broadcast of the year - we want to introduce ourselves, and explain how growing-your-own can be a great choice for your bank account as well. If you’re after a healthy investment - read on!
Welcome to week 23 of ‘Follow Us’, 2021 - it's been a busy time! In Planter 1, our 'French' sorrel has continued to grow well, while the 'Red-veined' remains very inconsistent! The carrots in Planter 2 are now being picked, and proving themselves to be extremely well formed - with a great variety of colours present! We've also finally faced reality, and reluctantly removed the Basil 'Greek' from the quadrant of basils in Planter 3, as well as removing the last the Speedy Beans from Planter 4, and replacing them with some early-season Pak Choi (‘Red Choi & Joi Choi’). To view all of last years progress, please feel free to browse through our backlog of 2020.
Welcome to week 22 of ‘Follow Us’, 2021! In Planter 1, our 'French' sorrel has continued to grow well, while the 'Red-veined' remains very inconsistent! The carrots in Planter 2 are healthy and continue to 'girth outwards'. The lastest in a series of back-and-forths, we've (again!) replaced the cloche over the quadrant of basils in Planter 3, and the Speedy beans in Planter 4 have continued producing excellent beans of various ages! Welcome to week 21 of ‘Follow Us’, 2021! In Planter 1, our 'French' sorrel has taken well to last week's thinning, but although the 'Red-veined' has now germinated sporadically, it's still very unsuccessful! The carrots in Planter 2 have now stopped growing upwards, and are dedicating their energies to 'girthing out' instead! The quadrant of basils in Planter 3 have slowed their growth since the removal of the cloche (but the leaf-blight has subsided!), and the Speedy beans in Planter 4 have continued producing excellent beans which we've finally begun to pick! To view all of last years progress, please feel free to browse through our backlog of 2020.
Welcome to week 20 of ‘Follow Us’, 2021! In Planter 1, we've now respaced our 'French' sorrel to achieve the correct stocking of 30 plants, but sadly the 'Red-veined' variety seems to have been stymied by last week's heatwave. On the bright side, the carrots in Planter 2 are still very much self-sufficient, and going strong! The quadrant of basils in Planter 3 have continued growing rapidly so we've removed the cloche-cover, and the Speedy beans in Planter 4 have begun to produce fully-formed pods ready for picking!
